Though cruise ship tourism has helped increase general tourism in Montenegro and helped the economy a lot, Kotor is a great example of the perils of cruise ship OVER-tourism 🛳⁣
Kotor is a super small town nestled between Kotor Bay and the super steep, tall mountains right behind it ⛰⁣
There's barely enough room in this little area for local inhabitants plus the tourists that visit by land, but with the volume of cruise ships coming for a day at a time that have largely been left unchecked, now there's barely any room to move within the old city walls at all 🤦‍♀️⁣
Not only is this irritating to anyone who visits, by land or by sea, but it's also pushing locals out of their homes by jacking up prices within the old city center and increasing noise levels to points where it becomes almost unlivable! 🙁⁣

After visiting Split, I headed onto my 33rd country - Montenegro! 🇲🇪⁣
It was a looong drive, but the coastline was so pretty, and arriving at Kotor Bay at sunset was pure magic 😍⁣

Diocletian's Palace in Split was definitely the most "Game of Thrones" place I visited in Croatia, since I didn't make it to Dubrovnik this time 🤷⁣
Surrounded by an old city wall and four gates, one on each side, this old palace is like a small ancient town unto itself 🌆⁣
I loved wandering all of the small cobblestone alleyways of this part of Split 👣⁣

After a visit to Krka from Zadar, I headed to the ferry terminal at Split and arrived in Hvar in time for sunset, and of course, some wild parties 🎉⁣
And the cold, clear, blue-green waters along the coast of the island are the perfect place to chill out and spend your hangover day the next day 🍹⁣
I think Hvar was actually my favorite destination in Croatia! 🇭🇷⁣

Somehow, none of my photos from Zadar got transferred to my computer and they're no longer on my SD card (😣), so onto pictures of Krka National Park instead!⁣
After visiting Zadar on Croatia's coast, I visited Krka National Park for a few hours on the way to the ferry terminal in Split to end up in Hvar ⛴⁣
There's no doubt that Krka was also beautiful, but somehow I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I loved Plitvice 💧⁣
Maybe it was the time of day I visited, and also that it was a weekend, but I found Krka just overly inundated with tourists everywhere on the boardwalks and water, making it kind of difficult to have the peaceful time in nature that I had imagined 🤔⁣
But still, I'm so grateful I got to see these waterfalls, because they're still so beautiful 😍⁣

I keep looking at these photos and wondering, was Plitvice even real life?? 😮⁣
It looked like something out of a fantasy novel or another world with the blue-green water cascading over mossy rocks and trees covered with lush green leaves ✨⁣
Beyond grateful I finally got to see this amazing natural wonder on my most recent trip to Europe 🙏⁣

I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunities coming into my life right now 🙏⁣
It's crazy how from one week to the next, I could go from miserable and emotionally dependent and having no idea what's next, to being grateful and independent and focused on an exciting new goal! ✨⁣
Though I love being on the road, I'm grateful to have a little bit of routine in my life while visiting my family in Michigan in the meantime. It's allowing me to take up my Miracle Morning practice again, with daily meditation, affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading, and gratitude journaling 📒⁣
I'm even starting to discover the wonders of Kundalini yoga, or the "Yoga of Awareness," and Sat Nam to bring together my daily meditation practice with my daily exercise in a conscious and energy-positive way 🕉 (Thanks @inkale.exkale for making me aware of this practice and introducing it into my life!)⁣
